Veneto: travel guides

Veneto, sea and cities of art

Veneto is a region in the north-west of Italy, well-known all over the world for its main cities of art, Venice and Verona: the first famous for its lagoon, the second for its Arena theatre and the House of Juliet (from William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet). Both UNESCO World Heritage Sites, these historic cities are just two of the destinations worth visiting in Veneto, famous also for its villas, mountains and Adriatic coastline, which during the summer is populated by thousands of tourists staying in its numerous camping sites and holiday villages.

Venice and the islands

The city of Venice is no doubt the main tourist destination in Veneto. A romantic city par excellence, as Verona, Venice and its lagoon are among the places everyone should visit at least once in their life. From its canals and bridges to islands such as Murano, every corner of Venice’s lagoon is worth visiting, even if you are camping on the coast, which is just half an hour away by boat.

Camping sites on Veneto’s coast

A tourist destination with a long camping tradition, Veneto’s coast is very appreciated by both Italian and foreign tourists, especially those form Central and Northern Europe, who here find large beaches and high-quality facilities, designed for their specific wants and needs. Popular camping beach destinations include Cavallino Treporti, Caorle, Chioggia, Eraclea Mare, Bibione and Jesolo, the last two particularly appreciated by young tourist for their lively night life.
